Aurora Health Services Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

March 15, 2020

To All Aurora Health Services Clients,

As we continue to monitor the evolving COVID–19 pandemic and as an additional precaution, Effective Monday March 16, 2020, Aurora Health Services will be providing Virtual TeleHealth to ALL clients and no sessions will be held in the office.  Aurora Therapist will host HIPAA compliant virtual sessions for the duration of this month to ensure the health and safety of our Clients and Therapists, with further updates released by your personal therapists. These sessions are covered by all major commercial insurance companies, but we do ask if you are unsure of your benefits, please contact you health insurance provider for more information. We will provide further updates during the coming weeks with more details on the plans for and resumption of in-office therapy/counseling. Attached, you will find a PDF of Telehealth FAQs for clients. Please review it before your first virtual session.

To participate in Telehealth appointments from your home, you need one of the following devices:
1. Desktop computer with a webcam and speakers
2. Laptop computer with built-in webcam and speakers
3. Tablet device with built-in webcam and speakers
4. Smartphone (Note: To use a smartphone, you must first download Telehealth by SimplePractice - available for iOS or Android in the app store)
You will also need an internet connection that is at least 10mbps.

Aurora Health Services continues to follow the recommendations of, the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD), the PA Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) regarding COVID–19 to take actions that are in the best interests of our clients and therapists as well as for our friends and neighbors living in the wider community. As mentioned previously, your best defense against contracting any respiratory virus is prevention. Therefore, all members of Aurora Heath Services Family - Clients and Therapists are advised to continue to take the following precautions as recommended by the CDC:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of any tissue immediately after use and wash your hands.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth if your hands aren’t clean.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick.
  • Practice social distancing by maintaining a distance of at least 6’ from anyone who is sneezing, coughing or wheezing.
  • Practice other good health habits. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, especially when someone is ill. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.

If you become ill, stay home and avoid public areas and consult your healthcare provider promptly. Avoid all unnecessary travel.

In addition to the information provided above, the following general resources may be helpful, including:
  • The Allegheny County Health Department website
  • The CDC Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) website with FAQ’s, situation updates and travel information

As we continue to monitor any developments pertaining to COVID–19 and its potential impact on the Aurora Health Services Family, we will notify you of any changes to our current health and safety protocol and procedures.
